“Those who believe that religion and politics do not mix, understand neither.”
– Albert Einstein
If Albert Einstein’s famous words above are true, then he is a genius. If his words are not true, then he is still a genius.
Let me introduce myself, I am Holly Henderson The Messenger Mom.
I like cool names, especially Southern names with alliteration. I adore monograms. I am an avid genealogist.
I am a devoted wife, a busy homeschooling mother of three and some would say a fierce Christian Apologist. A what? Not an apologist, as in oh, pardon me, please accept my apologies for bumping into you. You know, an Apologist, as in a person who offers an argument in defense of something controversial.
Yeah, that’s me. Always talking about something controversial, like Religion and Politics and the Daily News, which in essence is about Religion and Politics.
Pick your poison. Some folks choose one poison, others avoid any type of quick death, especially on social media.
I choose them all:
Resident of PG County, Maryland.
Unapologetically Catholic. (Ok, in this sense I am BOTH unApologizing for being a Catholic and still Apologist-izing for being Catholic. And a Republican. And a Homeschooler…)
Since I am on all the controversial topics, let the record also note:
I am discerning becoming a Third Order Lay Dominican. As in the “Order of Preachers”. Even my priest suggested that I check it out. Everywhere I turn, I feel the hounds of Heaven chasing after me to join…
My paternal third great-grandfather, Thomas Jefferson Riley, was a very wealthy Confederate slave owner in Georgia. He also was a politician, serving as a Democrat in the Georgia General Assembly. His great-grandfather, Jacob Riley, was a Patriot in the American Revolutionary War.
My maternal third great-grandfather, Peter G. Morgan, was a former slave. A shoemaker, who not only bought his own freedom but that of his wife. He too was a politician. Serving in both the Virginia Constitutional Convention bringing Virginia back into the Union and serving as one of the first black Republicans elected to the Virginia House of Delegates.
I served as a Maryland Gubernatorial appointee for both Republican and Democrat Governors.
I was elected to the Prince George’s County GOP Central Committee.
I am a descendant of moonshiners, teachers, authors, preachers, and famous rabbis. Hmmm. Maybe I am even a descendant of Albert Einstein. Brilliant, all of them!
So, yeah it’s all in my DNA. And I do not apologize. I am who I am. But I am *NOT* THE I AM. I am just Holly Henderson. (Although according to google there are other gals named Holly Henderson. Sweet. We have the best name!)
Welcome to my blog, where I will chronicle homemaking hacks, homeschooling facts and maybe even the actual Book of Chronicles. Heck, both of them. You will find personal advice, encouragement, challenges to your faith and some humor, as I deliver the News Du Jour for your Home and Life. I am Holly Henderson, The Messenger Mom.
